Awonderful Art Nouveau era,repoussé locket, modeled in 14k yellow gold, whose subject is a lion sitting in profileamid a clutchof tall grasses. Our lion is realistically rendered, with a snarling, focused expression; hislong, wavy mane mingles with thegracefulblades of grass thatsurround him, and he holds a sparkling, prong-set, old mine cut diamond in his mouth. This lion scene decorates the front side of the locket,edge-to-edge—the image is in beautiful condition, and it is especiallylyrical! The locket's backside features a simplemoated edge. The bloomed, high-color surface of the locket is in excellent condition with little-to-no rubbing. This is among the best animal-themed lockets we've seen— the lion in profile is unusual, and we love the elegant composition of the scene, wherein he lies in wait for his prey, or waits-out his adversary! This locket is fitted witha single photo ring.
